The Seaford Historical Society (SHS) has fully restored The Ross Mansion, a rare, Italian Villa style brick home. Once the home of Governor Ross and his family, the Mansion is a testament to Southern living. We are pleased to partner with the community by making the scenic Plantation grounds available to rent for outdoor weddings, receptions, shows, or other events.
The historic Plantation grounds offer an atractive country setting. Mature hardwood trees on the lawns and by the stately Mansion provide shade for guests. Large open areas are easily accessible for the placement of your tents, exhibits or displays. Electrical and water service are available, along with parking for over 200 cars.
The Ross Mansion is furnished with a small kitchen which offers a convenient, safe place to keep food temporarily. Please discuss your plans with a Museum representative if you wish to make use of this amenity.
Although all the grounds are available for rent, most renters find the West Lawn (next to the Mansion) or the South Lawn (across the driveway from the front door) most convenient. Other locations may require additional rentals of portable generators for electricity, or do not have access to water.
The Ross Mansion and outbuildings are furnished as museum exhibits. The Plantation is open for public tours on Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 PM.
Tents, tables, chairs, decoration, lighting, security, food service, music, rest rooms, trash removal, and other amenities must be provided by the renter. If changing rooms are needed, our spacious grounds can easily accommodate a camper or RV.
Alcoholic beverages are permitted. If beverages are sold, a Gathering License must be obtained from the Delaware Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission. Complimentary beverages do not require a license.
The Seaford Historical Society thanks you for considering the Ross Plantation in your event planning. Please feel free to contact the office with any questions, concerns, or to set a date for your special event.
