Annual Appeal
A Message from Teresa
There is a book called The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. He has created a moving parable for readers of all ages that offers an affecting interpretation of the gift of giving. Having said that, let me tell you about the gifts we have received from the state, with help from Rep. Danny Short and Sen. Bryant Richardson, to help revitalize the Governor Ross Mansion. The first is for new period-appropriate wallpaper in the entrance hall and dining room. The second will pay for improvements to the formal garden. Finally, funds were provided to develop a long-term preservation and restoration plan. We have thanked Danny and Bryant. If you see them, please thank them for our gifts!
That’s not all! Mark Showell, an entrepreneur, collector and historian gave us tables, chairs, couches and much more, all dating back to Governor Ross’s era.
These gifts are wonderful, but may only be used for their intended projects. However, we rely on you to help with paying our awesome employees, utilities, maintenance, grass cutting, tree removal and other necessities. So, please consider donating to our annual appeal by using the form at right, or by using this MAIL IN FORM.
We are blessed to have these properties. Please consider your giving! The last page in Silverstein’s book says, “And the tree was HAPPY!”
Learn from yesterday, live for today and hope for tomorrow!!
